Hi, I’m Jas! I’m a certified yoga instructor in Houston, Texas. I’ve been practicing yoga regularly since 2017. During this time, I was filled with stress and anxiety and I was looking for a way to calm the chaos—so I tried yoga. I absolutely loved it! And....so my yoga journey began.
In the beginning, I would watch videos on YouTube...which I found to be somewhat helpful, until I realized, the instructor can’t see me! I had no way of knowing if my body was correctly aligned to avoid injury, or if I was even doing the poses correctly, so I decided I’d try a yoga studio. My first yoga class was....overwhelming. So many people, so many poses, & very fast paced and honestly, intimidating. People, weren’t necessarily mean, but they weren’t nice either, and not to mention, no one looked like me. I didn’t know what I had gotten myself into! The biggest thing I noticed was that the instructors never took time to actually talk through poses, what’s a “normal” feeling vs. what is not, or reposition me. If I was wrong, I was wrong. Needless to say, I went home & regrouped. I didn’t want to give up, so I started to study....
Fast forward to now, Quarantine birthed “Vibes with Jas”. I wanted to bring relaxation/ meditation & yoga during a crazy time, to those in my community. I remembered what was going on in my life when I began my journey & I wanted to help others find a healthy way to destress. My heart was so full, as people that had never done yoga before, were in the park catching vibes led by yours truly! It was absolutely amazing!
